Puritan Belief

The Puritans are the men of God who started in the 16th century building on the purity of the gospel message that Salvation is by Grace alone.

Jesus is our Sabbath Rest

"Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest." Matthew 11:28
The greatest rest for the Christian is in Jesus. Jesus is our sabbath rest and with open arms he says to those who labor and are heavy laden to come to me.

My favourite Hymn is It is well with my soul. Here is my favourite verse.

My sin, oh, the bliss of this glorious thought!
My sin, not in part but the whole,
Is nailed to the cross,
and I bear it no more,
Praise the Lord, praise the Lord, O my soul!

Isn't this glorious that Jesus has done this:

"Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross." Colossians 2:14

This is the reason that our Sabbath Rest can be found in Jesus for His work in Justifying the sinner is complete and we can freely find our perpetual rest in Him.

And it seems that one of the greatest works of the enemy is to cause us to forget that we have this rest.

Puritan,

Amen. yea, Christ is our Sabbath Rest. Not only on the Sabbath, but as the wonderful hymn you quoted, He is our rest in good times, bad times, and anything else. Good Thoughts

YEA & AMEN!!!

The christian's sabbath is not a day but a Person.

Praise be to God Who gives us the victory!

Oh that so many of those who pride themselves in being 'reformed' would be free from sabbatarianism.

Would to God that those who hate Romanism(and rightly so)would hate that which Rome has done by changing the seventh day to the first.

Thanks be to God that I'm in Christ by God's doing and have been translated into the Kingdom of His dear Son.

AMEN & AMEN.
